In this game, the stage is set in an alternate rendition of the Golden Age of Piracy, where an enigmatic curse has breathed new life into the deceased, gifting them with extraordinary powers. As the player, your mission is to gather a crew of cursed pirates and embark on an adventure to the Lost Caribbean, an archipelago brimming with secrets. Your ultimate goal is to pilfer magical artifacts from the Inquisition, a relentless faction determined to eradicate all those who bear the curse. Prepare to navigate treacherous waters, face undead adversaries, and wield supernatural abilities as you strive to outwit the Inquisition and seize the coveted magical treasures.

Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew is an isometric real-time tactics video game with a rich array of features. At the game's launch, players can choose from eight distinct characters, each boasting their own set of unique abilities. For example, Pinkus can briefly take control of enemies and infiltrate restricted areas, while Suleidy can employ plant spores to distract foes and create hidden bushes throughout the game for players to utilize as hiding spots. To enhance their magical abilities, players can gather a valuable resource known as "vigor."

The game revolves around visiting various islands multiple times to collect precious Black Pearls, which are instrumental in resurrecting fallen characters and adding them to the player's crew. Each map provides an open region, allowing players to approach objectives in diverse ways. Though multiple routes can be taken to enter an island, the "Tear Into The Below" portal serves as the crew's escape route, magically transporting them back to their ship, the Red Marley, which doubles as the game's central hub.

To navigate through the game successfully, players must be cautious of their surroundings. Enemies are sensitive to loud noises and footprints, and players must avoid being spotted—enemy sight is indicated by green cones of vision. For strategic planning, players can utilize Shadow Mode, momentarily pausing the game to issue simultaneous commands to multiple characters. They can also exploit the environment, such as triggering a large boulder to crush an enemy without alerting nearby hostiles. Additionally, a quick-save system is incorporated, enabling players to promptly rewind time in case of tactical errors or undesired outcomes.

In this thrilling world of curses, magic, and tactical prowess, players must master their characters' abilities and cleverly navigate the various islands to accomplish their objectives while outsmarting the foes that stand in their way.
